OmniUpdate Announces Version 8.8 of Its Web Content Management System

Media RSS Capability for Higher Education Websites Makes Content Syndication Easier

Camarillo, CA — September 11, 2009 — OmniUpdate, Inc., the leading web content management system (CMS) provider for higher education, announced today the availability of enhanced Media RSS (MRSS) functionality in OU Campus, the company’s flagship web CMS product. This enhancement makes it easier for authorized users to quickly share multimedia files with RSS subscribers.

MRSS extends the use of traditional RSS feeds, allowing users to attach and share audio, video, and image files. Although such content could be shared previously, the new MRSS functionality in OU Campus provides a simplified interface for non-technical users.  The interface makes it easier to enter media files, links, titles, descriptions, image thumbnails, and keywords. Entry of this information can also enhance the site search process.

MRSS was a top development request during the OmniUpdate user conference in March 2009.  Lance Merker, President and CEO of OmniUpdate, states, “The new MRSS interface in OU Campus simplifies the process of creating and sharing media-enriched content.  MRSS is an important way to deliver rich media to users of social networks and other systems beyond the website, and we are excited to add this valuable feature to our product.”
