To shed some light on what high school students are thinking as they research colleges online, every year OmniUpdate co-sponsors a survey of thousands of prospective college students. Since we help higher education institutions manage more than 700 websites, this information matters a lot, to us AND to our OU Campus™ web content management system (CMS) customers.
Prospective students speak up about what influences their college decisions
This year’s E-Expectations report, released today on our website, provides fresh data about the online and mobile marketing preferences of young people – information that colleges and universities can put into action to refine their recruitment strategies. A few key points from this year’s survey:
- 98% of seniors said they find reliable information on school websites
- 80% of seniors said schools’ websites influenced or highly influenced their interest in specific colleges or universities (this compares to 33% who say print publications influenced or highly influenced their interest)
- 80% have registered for an open house using their mobile device
In 10 years of surveying high school students through E-Expectations, we’ve seen an incredible transformation in technology and the ways in which young people access information. The new data can help colleges and universities make sure their marketing and recruitment strategies are connecting with today’s student.
