Introducing Breanna Scott, OmniUpdate’s New Software Trainer

Breanna ScottWhat got you interested in the training/software industry?

I have worked in many training roles. I enjoy watching the individual growth and achievements of others and it’s rewarding to be a part of the process. Seeing a person reach that a-ha moment of understanding is super cool.

I love the progressiveness of the software industry; it’s ever-evolving with new advancements daily. My first thought after watching a mind-blowing action movie or a well-written comedy is, “How on earth did someone write this?” I wonder the same when I explore various software functions; it’s a real testament to the complexity of the human brain!

What inspired you to come to OmniUpdate?

How customer-centric OmniUpdate is! Unfortunately, these days it seems that genuine, customer-driven companies are few and far between.

What excites you about working at OmniUpdate?

Putting the amazing product aside, this company is comprised of just sincerely nice people. And not just nice people, truly intelligent people. Being around such bright individuals motivates and encourages me to be my very best.

What has been your favorite part so far?

The willingness everyone has to help get me up to speed and the realization that everyone here is a trainer; it just might not be their job title.

Any big plans for the Training department?

More interaction and engagement with customers! I want to hear what customers think would be a great Training Tuesday topic, or how we can better our support documentation and videos. We had a customer reach out to us about video captioning, which we are now currently looking into.

What personal or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

My 11-year-old son, Jack.

If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?

Probably the ability to fly. I’m terrified of heights, so I’d be forced to overcome that fear if I was given such power.

What was your favorite college experience?

It was my final semester at California State University Channel Islands. One of my finals was a culmination of a semester-long project, in which I was paired up with the one person I was hoping to not be paired with. The day before our presentation, I sent him the work I had completed. The next day, he kicks on the projector and the PowerPoint on the board is not mine! He completely redid the entire thing. I somehow refrained from losing it, improvised the whole thing, and in the end it wasn’t so bad… until I found out he didn’t finish the paper for our project. We ended up handing it in two days late and were docked a whole grade for our tardiness.

This probably sounds like a nightmare, but on the day of our graduation we both saw each other and immediately started laughing… sort of an uncontrollable laughter. There was this unspoken understanding and acceptance of the differences that existed between us, along with the sense of accomplishment we both felt being there that day. We became dear friends and still laugh about the horrible experience that brought us together.
