OU Marketplace™ has been released as part of version 10.3 of our OU Campus™ web content management system (CMS). We’re excited! The concept was presented at the 2015 OmniUpdate User Training Conference as a way to alert and educate users about the optional capabilities available to enhance the core CMS. The feedback received from customers at the conference was tremendous.
Accessible via the OU Campus Add-Ons menu, OU Marketplace enables CMS administrators to quickly acquire marketing tools, such as an online course catalog or faculty directory, as well as cost-free gadgets like the Page Analytics Gadget and Workflow Gadget.
Within the interface, modules and gadgets are categorized by most popular and recently added. Users can “like” any tool (see image below) and see what's already installed, plus they can send a link to a module or gadget to other users or CMS administrators. New modules and gadgets will be featured upon release, creating a built-in way to notify users and administrators when these tools have been added to the product.
The OU Marketplace is also a way for outside developers to add to the ecosystem and get recognized for their OU Campus development efforts. Using the OU Campus open API, developers can add features and gadgets to the marketplace. Once vetted by our OmniUpdate teams, their work will be shared and showcased in the marketplace. Several customer submissions are already included or slated for addition. In fact, our 2015 Gadget Challenge is open for both idea and code submissions, so check it out.
We hope the OU Marketplace will encourage institutional developers to share and showcase their work. And, we hope the 50,000+ users of OU Campus will discover additional tools to help them manage their digital content initiatives.
