The American Marketing Association named Robin Oliver of Western Carolina University the 2018 AMA Higher Education Marketer of the Year. Oliver, who is chief marketing officer, was chosen for the highly coveted individual award out of a broad field of qualified candidates.
Oliver is honored for her extraordinary leadership and achievement in the field of higher education marketing, specifically for her focus on branding, marketing, and communication aspects of a college or university. She is noted for her vision and leadership, strategic breakthroughs and methodologies, creative approaches to marketing problem solving and communication, and innovative use of social media, technology, and trends to advance higher ed.
Oliver has been with Western Carolina since 2014. In her role as chief marketer, she leads marketing and branding for this growing regional public university, and she manages external strategies to drive enrollment growth, alumni engagement, and university development. Oliver also advises university leadership on marketing and digital communications strategies. Western Carolina has been an OmniUpdate customer since 2012.
