Support for Content Migration and Mobile Templates Helps Higher Ed Clients Get Started Quickly
Camarillo, CA — July 8, 2011 — OmniUpdate, the leading web content management system (CMS) provider for higher
education, is now offering a new professional service to help OU Campus™ CMS customers
get their mobile websites deployed quickly. The service will assist customers currently
constrained by limited resources to achieve their mobile goals.
An OmniUpdate customer seeking assistance from the company with mobile deployment
will get a site built on powerful HTML5 standards using the jQuery mobile framework
and a choice of commonly used look-and-feel design layouts and user interface options
optimized for mobile devices. The company's support department will work closely with
that customer to migrate, if necessary, the most-visited content from their website
to the new mobile site. The OU Campus CMS can then be used to easily and consistently
maintain both the traditional and mobile website automatically and without additional
user training.
The demand for information to be accessible via mobile devices is growing. Higher
education institutions need to keep up with this demand, particularly in areas that
influence prospective students. According to a 2011 benchmark report by Noel-Levitz
on marketing and student recruitment practices, only 25% of public four-year campuses,
17% of four-year privates, and 9% of two-year public colleges have mobile apps, yet
more than 60% rated them "very effective" or "somewhat effective" for recruitment.
Lance Merker, President and CEO of OmniUpdate, stated, "Our customers often understand
the importance of having a mobile website, but sometimes lack the resources to get
started. So, we've decided to make it extremely simple for them to get their mobile
website deployed. And, new OU Campus customers who take advantage of this offer will
be delighted to have both a new CMS and a mobile site up and running from day one."
