New Accessibility Check Feature Helps Facilitate Compliance
Camarillo, CA — April 16, 2012 — OmniUpdate, the leading web content management system (CMS) provider for higher
education, has released version 9.14 of its OU Campus™ CMS. This release of OU Campus
includes a new Accessibility Check feature.
The new Accessibility Check feature in OU Campus provides the solution for ensuring
accessible pages to all site visitors. As part of the Page Check feature, this new
check validates web pages for Section 508 of the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973,
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) of the W3C, the Stanca Act, or Barrierefreie
Informationstechnik-Verordnung (BITV), and classifies the results into one of three
categories: "Known Issues," "Likely Issues," or "Potential Issues." This allows users
to quickly determine the issues of highest priority. Each result displays a detailed
description of the problem, including the source code in question and suggested corrections.
As is the case with other Page Check features, administrators can enforce Accessibility
Check before pages are published using the OU Campus Final Check feature.
Lance Merker, President and CEO of OmniUpdate, stated, "OmniUpdate realizes that
web accessibility is an important issue for our higher education customers. The Accessibility
Check feature helps make this complex and sometimes subjective process easier to monitor
and manage. It is one of many exciting product enhancements being released during
2012 that focuses on improving the CMS user and site visitor experience."
