OmniUpdate Hosts Most Successful User Training Conference Ever

Company Celebrates Record Attendance and Rapid Expansion of Its Development and Digital Marketing CMS Platform


Camarillo, CAMarch 12, 2015—OmniUpdate, the leading content management system (CMS) and digital marketing solutions provider for higher education, hosted its annual OmniUpdate User Training Conference (OUTC) in Newport Beach, CA, on March 1–5, 2015. More than 250 higher education web and marketing professionals were in attendance to learn more about version 10 of the company's OU Campus™ CMS. It was the largest attendee turnout for the event to date.

"We released version 10 of OU Campus in 2014," said OmniUpdate President and CEO, Lance Merker. "This year's OUTC was about leveraging the CMS as a development and digital marketing platform." With that in mind, the first two days of sessions focused on many of the new capabilities, modules, and gadgets now available to customers, including the powerful JustEdit™ feature and gadgets for link checking, administrator help, and more. The 2014 Gadget Challenge awards were given out (pictured), the 2015 Gadget Challenge was kicked off, and a new Concierge Program in cooperation with the company's business partners was introduced. In addition, it was announced that the OmniUpdate Community Network (OCN) will be re-launched on March 17 with a new look and enhanced capabilities.

With an eye toward the last half of 2015, Mr. Merker discussed the product roadmap and revealed OU Campus for Mobile and the OU Marketplace. OU Campus for Mobile will give system administrators nearly full CMS management capability from a mobile device. And the OU Marketplace will make it easier for customers to acquire new modules and gadgets developed for the platform. Both announcements were well received by the audience.

As part of the 67 presentations and training workshops hosted by OmniUpdate trainers, product specialists, and partners, 15 speakers from colleges and universities presented. A wide range of topics were covered, such as usability and digital signage. All presentations will be available to customers on the OCN starting March 17.

The last two days of the conference were committed to training CMS users, administrators, and developers. Without a doubt, the training workshops are an important and popular part of the conference. C. Daniel Chase from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga said, "OUTC is one of the best resources OmniUpdate provides to supplement their great support. Being able to share with peer institutions the challenges we are all trying to solve by utilizing web-based tools and techniques, and in particular OU Campus, is highly valuable. All institutions have similar problems, so we learn from each other how to solve them, and then we get training from OmniUpdate on how to accomplish those solutions—it's the perfect combination."
